BIOPHILIC WAITING ROOM

Biophilic waiting room for a health club. When designing this space, I wanted to create a warm, calming and inviting environment that connected users with nature. I was inspired by intricate patterns that the sun shining through leaves creates on the sidewalks and wanted this space to feel immersive in that shadow play.

COMIC CON MUSEUM GIFT SHOP AT BALBOA PARK

I was approached by an old instructor about working on the redesign for the comic con museum gift shop with him. We started by taking account of current inventory and furniture existent in the shop. I then modeled what was there and we re-imagined the space through story telling. I assisted in space planning, layout of the new store and helping decide on different wall graphics and art created by my instructor. I modeled this and rendered it to create a package for the clients to decide on a few different design options. this project was completed and implemented in March 2023 at Balboa Park.

STUDENT LOUNGE CONCEPT @ NSAD

For my psychology class we were tasked with researching the student body at our school and creating a student lounge to fit those needs and wants. Through interviews, we found that busy and stressed students want a place just for them where they can cut loose and escape the stresses of the day for a bit. This led me to creating this student only retro game room. Filled with acoustical materials, this room takes over two former spaces that only get utilized once a year for a week.

RADY'S CHILDREN HOSPITAL

Rady’s Children Hospital in San Diego is an International Hospital for sick children with patients from all over the world. The concept for the redesign of the Emergency Department waiting room was to take cultural differences into consideration and how loved ones of a sick child might respond to stress and fear.

For the color scheme of the area, we chose blues and greens because it promotes soothing in stressful environments. The waiting area is large and spacious with plenty of seating, an area for younger kids with a tv and games that is separated from other seating so not to be distracting. It also features an outdoor play area with trees and benches. It is enclosed in glass so parents can let their children play.
